God’s Love For Us

****Dennis Macharia****

Remember God Loves You
Dear Christian, when last did you contemplate God’s love for you? Satan delights in convincing the wicked and unrighteous that God loves them and they need not forsake their ways and then turns to make God’s children doubt their Fathers love. Let’s contemplate about God’s love for us:

God’s love for us is ETERNAL
Eph 1:3-6
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
God set his love on us even before He created us. In love He predestined us for adoption as his sons. His love for us will not come to an end, as he has loved as from all eternity He will love us into all eternity.

God’s Love for us is UNCONDITIONAL
Psalms 103: 8-14
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust

If God’s love had conditions attached to it no mortal in the planet would ever have qualified for it. Blessed be God who loves us not because of our loveliness and goodness but because He is love. You did nothing to qualify/ earn God’s love so you cannot do anything to lose it. The longing of every human is to be perfectly known and perfectly loved. Other human beings may love us because they do not know us fully but God is the only person who knows us fully and still loves us fully. God knows how flawed you are but loves you infinitely.
People who love you today may see your flaws later and their love for you may be negatively affected, however, with God that is not a possibility because God knows all about you and yet loves you.

When you are tempted to Doubt God’s Love
Every one of us will at some point be tempted to doubt God’s love. At his baptism, Jesus received an assurance from his Father, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Yet in the wilderness, the devil’s temptation hinged at making Jesus doubt that He was God’s beloved son. Satan will seek to employ the same trick in our lives, “If you are the son of God why has He not healed you? If you are God’s beloved why are you unemployed?”
We have to rebuff every Satan’s effort to cause us doubt God’s love by reminding ourselves that God’s love for us is not measured by our present prosperity or afflictions but by His suffering for us on the cross. When Paul wrote to the Romans he knew that their circumstances would tempt them to doubt God’s love for them.

Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord

The church in Rome is practically going through much tribulation and affliction. Paul reminds them that no magnitude of tribulation can separate them from God’s love. In other words, trying circumstances did not mean that God had stopped loving them. Therefore, if you want to see God’s limitless love for you fix your eyes on Calvary not on your present circumstances. You may be troubled and depressed because of the storms of life, do not let that cause you to doubt God’s love for you. Remember that the storms that toss you are in the hands that were pierced for you.
God’s commitment to do you good is most visible at the cross where He gave his body and soul to infinite anguish to rescue you from eternal damnation.

Prayer to continually comprehend God’s love
Ephesians 3:14-19
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God

Paul prayed that God would grant the Ephesians strength to comprehend His limitless love for them. If we are to continually comprehend God’s love for us we have to continually ask Him to gives us power to grasp His infinite love for us. Our hearts need help to stay anchored and to increase in the understanding of God’s love, help which can only be given by God.
Saints God loves you!!
