At times we struggle with obstacles- sins, temptations – to the point that we feel helpless in the sight of temptation, to the point that we feel like the only thing we could do is give up. Especially when the temptation is something we did before we got saved.Yes I know that when you get born again your old man dies and “a new you” starts to exist. Yes, technically that’s what “should happen”. But let’s put it this way. Even Christ Himself was tempted, so we’re never really out of the woods.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
So what do we do? Do we concede defeat and continue to live in sin? Certainly not! From the article Grass is Greener, we learnt that what we focus on grows. The grass is greener where it’s being watered. Allow me to refer us to Joshua 6. I especially love verse 20.
When the people heard the sound of the rams’ horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it. ~ Joshua 6:20 NLT
If you want to live a victorious Christian life, you need to learn how to worship God through whatever challenge you go through. You’re walking into fire, worship. Let’s get closer home. You lost a job? Worship. You’re getting tempted? Worship. You feel like you’re at your end? Worship. If constantly your heart is focused on the greatness of God, sin cannot thrive. Whatever you focus on grows. If you learn how to worship in the good times, worshipping in the bad times becomes easier because worshipping is what you do.
And whenever the tormenting spirit troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away. ~ 1 Samuel 16:23 NLT_
That’s why we sing, that’s why we praise. Because as we sing, our spirits are strengthened. As we praise God, we confess His greatness, and it becomes real in our lives. When we sing, we conquer our troubles. When we raise a praise, WALLS COME DOWN. If anything, let Psalm 108 be a guiding light to you.
My heart is confident in You, O God; no wonder I can sing your praises with all my heart! . . . With God’s help we will do mighty things, for He will trample down our foes. ~ Psalms 108:1, 13 NLT.
Keep Shining, you’re the light.
Keep Trusting, He’s your Guide.
God Bless you!
